Guitar center has declined in recent years. Lower quality products, less staff and less selection. Honestly seems like a ghost town inside these days. I don't expect them to be around much longer. However, if there is something you need quick and can't wait for delivery, sometimes they might have what you need.
This place is everything I could think of being, if I were I to musical arts. My two year old daughter loved it.
Always hit or miss at any Guitar Center for service. Sometimes you get downright rude people working there or people that don't know anything. They carry mass produced imported guitars. Stuff with huge markups. I only shop there in an emergency or in this case today I got a screaming deal in a gift card from someone. If you are looking for better than bargain guitars go elsewhere in town like Capitol Guitars or Willie's.
I had gone into the store on a Saturday and spoken with someone in the drum department. I brought in a tom that needed a piece of hardware (lug) that had stripped out. He said he would need to order it from the manufacturer and he would try to get a hold of them on Monday. I gave him my number to call me when he heard from them. After not hearing back from him I called again that following Friday. He was supposed to call either way by Wednesday. He said that he was still trying to get a hold of them and then kept trying to sell me a whole new drum. Telling me they were on sale for $70. I didn't see the point because it only needed a small piece and the rest of the drum was fine. It is part of an entire set and I didn't want to try to match up a new one. Although nice on the phone,(why they get 2 stars) he failed to get back to me and actually solve the issue. It's been several weeks since the initial call. If their goal is to give you that small town drum shop atmosphere...they failed miserably.
I do have an older kid that makes music and could spend a whole unproductive day in this place each time we visit.
Great place to try out a variety of gear! I have seen the negative reviews but this has never been my experience. I have always had pretty positive interactions with no pressure to buy. I also like that they will price match gear to be the lowest...Pretty convenient in a pinch especially. I only gave it 4 stars as they do lack the assortment of higher end gear that can be found at the Edina location. Wish they had a better selection of acoustics in the $1k and over range.
Me, I love the place I just can't afford anything I want!
